Marcos Clara
Marcos Clara This month’s Behind-the-Scenes: Employee Spotlight is focused on Mr. Marcos Clara, the evening cleaner at Locust Primary School. Mr. Clara has worked in the Garden City Public Schools for five years and at Locust the last four. “Marcos is conscientious and reliable,” commented Locust Principal Jean Ricotta. “He is always pleasant, cooperative, and willing to go above and beyond what is asked of him. Marcos is a consummate professional.”

Mr. Fate Simpkins, head custodian, stated, “Mr. Clara is an excellent worker. He takes his job very seriously and is dependable. This employee assists all staff with a smile and has established positive relationships with the faculty.”

Mr. Clara is married and has two children, a sixteen-year old daughter and a twenty-year old son. He loves spending time with his family and friends. Mr. Clara enjoys watching professional soccer and is known to play soccer at family picnics. He is also an avid Yankees fan and enjoyed discussing the World Series with the staff.

Mrs. Kara Salierno, a teacher, commented, “The Locust teachers feel lucky that we have a special colleague who cares about the building’s appearance and will offer assistance even when he isn’t asked.”

“We are fortunate to have Marcos at Locust,” said Miss Ricotta. “He works very hard to make the building clean and orderly. He is eager to support teachers and everyone comments about how consistently thoughtful he is.”

Thank you, Mr. Clara for making Locust Primary School an environment that is exceptional for learning!
