Pack 55 Cub Scouts Say Thank You Garden City!
Getting ready to pop some balloon “popcorn.”
The community of Garden City put the “fun” into fundraising this year! The boys of Cub Scout Pack 55 wish to thank their family, friends, and neighbors for so generously supporting them in their 2009 fundraiser. Each year, the cub scouts sell Trail’s End Popcorn to help pay for all the fun trips and activities they do. Trail’s End offers many varieties of tasty popcorn, some in decorative tins, microwave popcorn, or trail mix. Donations were also accepted so that popcorn can be sent to the troops overseas. Pack 55 and Garden City is sending almost $5,000 in popcorn and trail mix to our soldiers and their families - wow!
Starting in October, the boys went door-to-door around their neighborhoods and sold at booth sales around town. Thanks to Key Food, Stop and Shop in Carle Place, and Stop and Shop in West Hempstead for each hosting a booth at their entrance. Profits from popcorn sales provide many program and activity opportunities for the boys. Seventy percent of the sales of popcorn go directly to the Cub Scout pack and our local Nassau County chapter of the Boy Scouts of America, the Theodore Roosevelt Council. This year, many of the scouts used their Popcorn money to help pay for a really cool trip - sleeping overnight at the Museum of Natural history - our own real life Night at the Museum!
Unscrambling the Cub Scout Promise.
To kick off their fundraiser, the cub scouts celebrated at the Popcorn Palooza Pack Night. All of the activities featured popcorn and included catapulting popcorn, playing Trail’s End bingo, and even “popping” popcorn colored balloons. Look for us next year during the month of October. Thank you again for your support.
