Merry Christmas To All...

‘Twas just weeks before Christmas and all through the stores,

it was far too quiet - no one on the floors.

The merchandise was readied and made to look grand

in hopes that the people would understand.

There were shiny new gifts ready to buy

and lovely wrapped packages so festively tied.

Hours were extended with coupons and discounts.

And with the hope of more sales, their spirits did mount.

Ad after ad called for shopper support,

But week after week came the dismal report.

When Johnny the scout or Suzie the cheerleader

appeared with requests,

They were met with broad smiles and always a yes.

But sales were not rising and the rent must be paid.

Where were the customers that could come to their aid?

The merchants were shocked - folks not shopping in town!

It was certain that help must somehow be found.

A committee was formed to muster the troops.

And the Merchants gathered to form a new group!

They ran through the Village with new zest and new vigor,

praying to see black not red in new figures.

Success swept the Village, now stores could stay open.

The merchants saw profits instead of just hopin’!

“Thanks to our friends!” Merchants beamed with delight!

“Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!”

HAPPY HOLIDAYS AND MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM THE MERCHANTS OF GARDEN CITY. THANK YOU

FOR SHOPPING IN OUR VILLAGE NOW AND ALWAYS
