Italian Cafe Helps Breast Cancer Program
Marisa Ruta, the co-owner of La Bottega and Caffe Barocco restaurants in Garden City South, recently presented a check for $800 to Hillary Rutter, the director of the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline & Support Program. During the month of October - Breast Cancer Awareness Month - the restaurant ran a special where a portion of the proceeds from the sale of selected menu items was donated to the breast cancer program.
“To us, volunteering is like offering a gift of hope,” said Ms. Ruta. “We liked getting involved with the Adelphi Breast Cancer Program’s fight against breast cancer and are glad we were able to help by participating in this fundraising effort.”
Says Hillary Rutter, “La Bottega is just down the road from our offices at the Adelphi School of Social Work and has been a popular lunch place for our staff since the restaurant opened. We are glad to have had this opportunity to support each other.”
The Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline & Support Program has been helping New Yorkers for nearly thirty years. To reach the hotline, call 800-877-8077.
