“Healthy Eating And Good Cooking” Lecture

Chef Leisa Dent and her mother and co-owner Lillian Dent of LLDent Restaurant
Chef Leisa Dent and her mother and co-owner Lillian Dent of LLDent Restaurant Start the New Year right by attending the Community Club of Garden City and Hempstead’s January general program featuring a presentation of “Healthy Eating and Good Cooking with a Southern Flair” by the mother-daughter co-owners of the popular “LL Dent” Restaurant located in Carle Place. The program will take place on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. at the Garden City Casino.

Serving authentic home-style American cuisine with a southern flair, LL Dent has drawn rave reviews since its opening in February 2006. This unique restaurant is the living realization of the life-long dream of its co-owners, Lillian Dent and her daughter Chef Leisa Dent, transplanted southerners. Each authentic southern dish that is served at the Restaurant has been handed down from generation to generation.

Chef Leisa began cooking in her Roosevelt home at age eight. She went on to study at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, perfected her skills at Marriott Hotels in Uniondale and Atlanta and worked as actor Eddie Murphy’s personal chef. Her mother Lillian was the perfect one to help Leisa launch the restaurant, having spent 31 years at Dow Jones in sales and marketing. Newly retired, she worked with the small business administration to write a business plan, designed the restaurant’s decor and searched endlessly for the perfect location.

The Dents will show us how to prepare a healthy, southern-styled meal, consisting of an entree, vegetable and dessert. A tasting is included after the demonstration, so be sure to join us on Wednesday, January l6 th to meet this dynamic and talented duo and sample some authentic healthy southern cuisine.
