Nasser Samman The Garden City Hotel has announced the appointment of General Manager Nasser Samman to the board of directors of the Long Island Convention & Visitors Bureau and Sports Commission (LICVB&SC) www.discoverlongisland.com.

“Due to his commendable performance as general manager of the renowned Garden City Hotel, we believe the addition of Nasser Samman to the board of the Long Island Visitors Bureau will be of great value to promote Long Island tourism,” says LICVB&SC Chairman Louis Salvatico.

Samman joins fellow board members, on January 1, 2010, in taking general charge of the affairs, funds and property for the non-profit membership corporation. LICVB&SC promotes the Nassau-Suffolk region as a world-class destination thus contributing to the economic development and quality of life on Long Island.

As general manager of The Garden City Hotel, Samman has contributed to the hotel’s reputation for elegance and unparalleled service making it the leading choice on Long Island for meetings, banquets and world-class hospitality. He oversees the daily operations of guest services, food and beverage, and, day-to-day operations.

In 2009, Long Island Business News honored Samman in its inaugural “50 Around 50” awards for leading Long Island executives. In 2007, Samman was selected as one of 20 industry experts to sit on the advisory board of Seven Stars and Stripes, an arbiter of global luxury standards in travel and leisure. In 2004, the Big Apple Chapter of the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International selected Samman as General Manager of the Year. In 2002, Samman received the New York State Senate Liberty Award for exceptional achievement for his work with a local relief fund to support 9/11 families. He also served as a board director for the Long Island Hotel & Lodging Association and is a member.
