Heart of a Military Woman’s Soul ” (Sparkle Press, 2009), a compilation of writings by and about US Military Women.
Lana’s essay is a tribute to the 38 American Civilian and Military Women Casualties who died on April 4, 1975 when the first military “Operation Babylift” (OBL) flight crashed shortly after take-off from Tan Son Nhut Airport, S. Vietnam.
Lana also presented a posthumous Heather Constance Noone Memorial Award to the women during the 15th Anniversary Ceremony at the Vietnam Civilian Women’s Memorial, Washington, DC on November 11, 2008.
OBL evacuated over 2,500 Vietnamese War orphans from Vietnam during the final weeks of the War.
Lana and her late husband Byron Noone adopted two daughters (Heather-deceased, and Jennie Noone) from Vietnam via OBL and a son, (Jason Noone) from Korea in 1979.
Her book, “ Global Mom: Notes From a Pioneer Adoptive Family ” (Gateway Press, 2003) tells their family’s inspiring story.
Lana is honored by her inclusion in this outstanding book.
