AAUW To Hold Spirited Holiday Program
Margaret Delahunt organized this year’s holiday program
The season of joy, good cheer and loving kindness is exploding everywhere! Capturing these feelings with songs of praise, AAUW will present its annual holiday program in the Garden City Public Library on Monday, Dec. 7 at 7:30 p.m. This year’s outstanding presentation is geared to attract fun-lovers of all ages.
Jean Marie Delahunt, born and raised in Garden City, and her longtime friend Mary Margaret Feinsinger, a graduate of Juilliard with a master’s degree in voice, together have created a uniquely styled program. Coming into play along with their artistry in voice and piano will be Ms. Delahunt’s work with children through her affiliation with the Metropolitan Opera Guild’s education department. The audience will be delighted by the young people as they join in joyful musical synchronization.
Also expect a fabulous array of ‘tunes and tales.’ Traditional melodies from European and Jewish culture, interlaced with popular American holiday music, will fuel the spirit. The audience will be encouraged to give finality to this evening of joy by joining together in a community sing-a-long.
A festive display of holiday treats arranged by hospitality chairs Lyn McGuire and Joan Afflerbach will be offered.
Margaret Delahunt, vice president for program development, is credited withe the program’s conceptualization. President Georgene Harrison will be on board to greet the presenters, Ms. Delahunt and Ms. Feinsinger. All other AAUW members look forward to greeting guests and fellow members with well wishes for this holiday season.
