Rovers Take On Oceanside Knights
Luke Connolly with the Big Kick...
The GC Rovers took on the Oceanside Knights in their last game of the season this past weekend at St. Pauls. Looking to finish the season strong the Rovers started to get things going by doing the Rover Pre Game Chant. Once the whistle blew it was time to show the Knights, all the hard work that the Rovers put into this season. The Rovers scored the first goal 1 minute into the game. Then the Rovers leashes were removed and scored 2 goals in 3 minutes. The Oceanside Knights came back but the Rovers stopped them at half time. It was 3-2 at half time. Once half time was over the Rovers saw John Skahill on the side line rooting them on with a dislocated knee. The Rovers came out on fire and scored 2 more goals in the first 5 minutes of the second half. Not putting up the barking wall, but the Rovers still shut down the Knights to only 1 more goal as the Rovers won 5-3 against the Oceanside Knights. They finished their season with a record of 4-4-1. The Rovers wanted to win for their head coach Connolly as he was away watching the game on a live feed. The Rovers had so much fun the whole season. Having completed 2 tournaments finishing in 3rd and 2nd respectively. The boys truly had a learning experience and will only get better by continuing their hard work habits.
