GCHS Librarian Presents At National Conference
Media specialist Margaux DelGuidice
A school library media specialist from Garden City High School has made a national impact by representing Garden City Public Schools at the 14th Conference of the American Association of School Librarians. Media specialist Margaux DelGuidice was invited to present at the annual event which took place on November 6th - November 8th in Charlotte, North Carolina.
2009 marks the second time in two years that Ms. DelGuidice, along with Rose Luna, a librarian from another Long Island school district, were asked to present as expert faculty at this National Conference. Their special, concurrent session focused on the topic of advocacy and allowed for a hands-on breakout session where Ms. DelGuidice worked directly with school media specialists from across the country.
The presentation created by Ms. DelGuidice and Ms. Luna won accolades from the participants who called it “informative, well-organized and delightful.” Both women were described as “persevering and hard-working with an upbeat attitude.” The president-elect of The American Association for School Librarians, Dr. Nancy Everhart, praised the session as “useful and necessary” for school library media specialists across the country.
In the future, Ms. DelGuidice looks forward to hosting, and attending, professional development sessions that will help to foster a positive learning experience for the students of the Garden City Public Schools.
