Garden City Residents Benefit From Friends Of The Library

If you were looking for culturally varied live presentations this Fall, the Garden City Public Library was the place to be. The Friends of the Garden city Public Library sponsored nine free programs which enlightened and entertained numerous adult residents. Quality public programming included “The Art of Illumination,” “Driving Miss Daisy” and “A Tribute To America Concert.” The Young Adult Department presented thirteen popular topics such as babysitting, a college series, movies and creative/cooking workshops. The Children’s Department enjoyed “Birds of Prey,” “A Chocolate Workshop” and “Farmer Rabbit Crafts” with more to come. Beautiful gallery exhibits and showcase displays as well as book discussions and movies galore were all provided by the Friends. The Museum Pass Program sponsored by the Friends has additionally saved residents expensive entrance fees.

The Friends of the Garden city Public Library continue to fulfill these community needs. The 2009 Annual Appeal and ongoing book sales help to finance these valuable programs. You are invited to become a new member or a renewed member with a tax deductible donation to keep their mission strong.
