The Garden City Pool is pleased to announce the dates for Pool Employment Interviews for the 2010 season. These interviews are open to people who are currently High School Seniors and older. All potential Pool Staff, whether new or previously employed by the pool, must make an appointment for an interview. The interview dates are as follows:

RECREATION DEPARTMENT’S FLOOR HOCKEY PROGRAM

The Garden City Recreation Department is proud to announce it will once again offer a Floor Hockey Program this winter at Field House at St. Pauls. The program will be open to Village residents between the ages of 5-13 on select Fridays according to the following schedule:

Floor Hockey will run on the following Fridays only:

December 4th, 11th, 18th

January 8th, 22nd

February 5th

Ages (5 & 6) 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Ages (7 & 8) 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Ages (9 & 10) 7:45 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.

Ages (11-13) 7:45 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.

The cost of this program will be $20. In order to play in this program, all participants must wear the following equipment at all times: hockey helmet with cage, hockey gloves, shin pads, sneakers, and a hockey stick. REGISTRATION FOR PRESCHOOL ARTS AND CRAFTS HAS BEGUN

The Garden City Recreation Department will run a Preschool Arts & Crafts program in Cluett Hall for children who are 3 1/2 to 5 years of age. This program is open to Garden City residents only. Each week your child will make a project to take home following the seasons, holidays, or other interesting topics. Our classes run for six weeks and are 45 minutes long. We will hold classes on the following days and times:

Tuesday at noon begins November 10

Thursday at 12:15 pm begins November 5

DANCE SHOWCASE REMINDER

This is a reminder for any child in grades 3 and up who is registered for one of our dance classes and wants to participate in our year end showcase. Your registration form for the showcase is now due. Rehearsals will begin the week of November 30.

The Recreation Department’s Winter Session of Children’s Tennis for ages 4-18 is quickly filling. These classes begin the week of January 4 and run through April. Please visit the Recreation Office at 108 Rockaway Avenue to register for any of our classes.

The Recreation Adult Programs in the Field House begin on Tuesday, October 13th, according to the following schedule:

Mondays Mens Open Basketball 7:30-10 p.m.

Mens Over 40 Basketball 7:30-10 p.m.

Tuesdays Mens Over 30 Basketball 7:30 -10 p.m.

Wednesdays Mens Open Basketball 7:30-10 p.m.

Mens Over 40 Basketball 7:30-10 p.m.

Thursdays Adult Volleyball 7:30 - 10 p.m.

Adult Soccer 8:30 - 10 p.m.

These programs are open to residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City who have graduated high school. All programs listed are free of charge and strictly “pick up.”

Any resident wishing to participate must show their license each week in addition to signing in. A non resident guest may play but must be accompanied by a resident to enter.

ADULT DANCE CLASSES NOW REGISTERING

The following dance classes for adults will be offered by the Recreation Department:

Adult Ballet beginning October 27 Tuesday at 9:15 am

Adult Stretch beginning October 27 Tuesday at 7:45 pm

Adult Stretch beginning October 29 Thursday at 9:15 am

Adult Jazz (this is a performance based class)

beginning October 31 Saturday at 9:00 am

Each class is one hour long and will be held in Cluett Hall. The cost of each 15 week class will be $ 120. To register for any of these classes, please visit the Recreation Office at 108 Rockaway Avenue with a check made payable to the Inc. Village of Garden City.
