On Saturday November 14th St Anne’s CYO U-10 played Corpus Christi (Mineola) for their first game of the 2009 fall season. While most of players were new to the team, they did not disappoint. St Anne’s built up 10 point lead by the 3rd period by baskets by James Drogalis, David Bianco, Brandon Brugnone and Sean Moran. Corpus Christi made a valiant effort to come back by shutting down St Anne’s and closing the gap to 17-13 by the end of the 3rd period. But St Anne’s fought back and exploded when Jonathan Manfre scored 14 of his 16 points in the 4th period while strong defense by Anthony Riggi, Patrick O’ Hara, and Sal Cirasola held Corpus Christi in check. Strong effort by Michael Mcgoldrick, Ryan Moran, Kevin Gorman and Jack Kavan sealed a victory for St Anne’s as they went on to defeat Corpus Christi by the score of 32-20. Coach Cirasola and Coach Gorman were ecstatic with the players overall team effort !!!!
