High School Students Welcome District Administrators
Two high school special education classes - Mrs. Mary Ferrara and Ms. Anne Cloghessy’s ADL skills class, and Ms. Kear’s Math 9 class - recently held a “Welcome to the District” party for new administrators. The guests of honor were Glenn Stewart, 6-12 Special Education Coordinator, Kevin Steingrubner, Garden City High School Assistant Principal, and Kim Liguori, Assistant Director of Pupil Personnel Services. High school principal Nanine Cuttitta, assistant high school principal David Perrotta, and Director of Pupil Personnel Services, Catherine Wheeler also attended.
The ADL students used their communication skills to talk to the guests. The students engaged in conversations using proper eye contact, tone, and asking appropriate questions to the guests. The Math 9 students used problem solving skills and math skills to plan the party. Estimating, budgeting, unit pricing, rounding and problem solving logic were math concepts were used by the students. Samples of their work were posted in the classroom during the event.
A special thanks to all who attended for making our collaboration such a success!
