See this photo at www.Newsphoto.com Garden City High’s field hockey team won their 16th consecutive Nassau County title with a 5-0 victory over the Manhasset Indians on November 8th at Adelphi University. Mariah Pewarski put the Trojans up 1-0 with 14:24 left in the first half. Although the Trojans put constant pressure on Manhasset goalkeeper Meghan Cox, she kept the Indians in the game as the first half ended with GC holding a 1-0 lead. Garden City seems to have a habit of second half surges and this game was no exception. Six minutes into the second half, Senior Eleni Andromidas gave the Trojans a 2-0 lead. From there Kerry Hosford and Mikaela Rix made quite the pair as Hosford scored three more Trojans’ goals, all assisted by Rix. The Trojans will face Shoreham-Wading River, the Suffolk Class B champion, Saturday at 11 a.m. at Stony Brook University.
