Marching Band Sees “West Side Story”
      On Wednesday, October 7, the Garden City High School Marching Band students traveled to Broadway to see the musical West Side Story. The students experienced the wonderful music written by Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim which is a part of their marching band repertoire for this year.

Cross Country Team Heads to Maine for Regionals
      On the heels a of successful championship season competing in the Brooklyn/Queens Diocesan Cross Country races, the Holy Spirit/St Anne’s team headed out to Sunken Meadow State park this past Sunday, November 8 to compete in the Long Island Track and Field Regional Cross Country qualifiers.

Garden City Mavericks SoccerShut Out Albertson
      On Saturday, November 7, the boys U-10 Maverick soccer team defeated the Albertson Fire by a final sore of 3-0. Goals were scored by Ian Gallagher and Kevin McNiff. The Mavericks have been stepping up their game and playing some first rate soccer with offensive success shown by Vincent Como, Steven Santel and J.P. Trabulst.

GC Defectors (aka Sopranos) Softball Champions ... Again
      The Defending Champions GC Defectors, (formerly known as the GC Pub Sopranos) proved too strong for Leo’s in the over 35 softball championship. What figured to be an exciting game was anything but. Leo’s appeared to be old and slow and was no match for the younger more athletic defector squad.

      This fall, the Garden City Wings Varsity ice hockey team will begin their 36th season in the Nassau High School Hockey League. The Wings return twelve players from last year’s team while adding eight additional players including six freshmen.

Varsity Girls Swim And Dive Wins 11th Straight County Title
      The Girls Varsity Swim and Dive Team traveled to the Nassau County Aquatics Center on November 4th, 6th and 7th to defend their 11th County title. After having outstanding swims in Friday night’s prelims, the girls came in with high hopes for Saturday’s finals season.

GC Rams Girls Lacrosse Registration
      Registration for the 2010 Spring Lacrosse season is currently taking place during the month of November and will continue through December 19th. Participation is open to all girls in the third through eighth grade who reside in Garden City or who attend school in Garden City. GC’s Boys Soccer Team Heads to County Final After Playoff Wins
      Being undefeated and the number one seed in their division didn’t mean a free ticket to the Nassau county boys soccer final for Garden City but the Trojans proved that they were more than ready, willing and able to get to the final. Before they could do that, there were a couple of games that had to be won first.

GC Beats Mepham To Advance To Semifinals Vs. Carey
      Three weeks ago Garden City High’s football team celebrated a Homecoming victory over a talented Carey team by the surprising score of 28-0. Years ago that would have been the end of it. The teams would have had a year to regroup. But in the age of conference playoffs, the two squads are headed for a rematch at Hofstra’s Shuart Stadium at 4 p.m.

GC Field Hockey Wins 16th Consecutive County Title
      Garden City High’s field hockey team won their 16th consecutive Nassau County title with a 5-0 victory over the Manhasset Indians on November 8th at Adelphi University. Mariah Pewarski put the Trojans up 1-0 with 14:24 left in the first half.

TMA Garden City Family Football Classic
      The Men’s Association of Garden City and the Andy Foundation are presently accepting team applications and sponsorships for the 2009 Football Classic. The tournament will be held on Saturday, November 28th from 11 am - 4 pm at St. Paul’s field. Entry fee is $30 per adult and $15 per child and includes lunch and trophies.

REGISTRATION FOR PRESCHOOL ARTS AND CRAFTS HAS BEGUN
      The Garden City Recreation Department will run a Preschool Arts & Crafts program in Cluett Hall for children who are 3 1/2 to 5 years of age. This program is open to Garden City residents only. Each week your child will make a project to take home following the seasons, holidays, or other interesting topics. Our classes run for six weeks and are 45 minutes long.
