Pictured here are Garden City High School theater arts and English teacher Laura Rebecca and high school English teacher Nathan Guc, who recently enjoyed the spotlight in international cinema. Ms. Rebecca balances her high school teaching duties with her personal passions - independent film production, music videos, and promotional shorts. Her most recent documentary film, Singer with No Name, centers on fellow high school English teacher, Nathan Guc. The documentary follows Nathan’s life as a singer and songwriter, beat poet, and semi-pro bowler. Ms. Rebecca’s film takes its title from Mr. Guc’s 2002 CD release of the same name and includes interviews with colleagues and former students. Singer with No Name opened on October 24th as an Official Selection at the New York International Independent Film and Video Festival in New York City.

Singer with No Name was also a selection at the Cannes Film Festival Short Film Corner earlier this year. Ms. Rebecca’s short film Audition, produced through the New York Film Academy, was a selection in Cannes in 2008.
