Art Historian and Artist Lois Schnackenberg with Art Department Chairman Renata Rego-Monteiro. On Thursday, October 29, the Community Club of Garden City and Hempstead, Inc. hosted a program with Art Historian and Artist Lois Schnackenberg. The slide lecture entitled Still Life in America - from Colonialism to Modern Times. focused on American artists who were influenced by French painter Pierre Bonnard. The audience viewed slides of beautiful traditional still life and contemporary modern still life with sparkling colors and vivid design. A question and answer period followed the presentation.

Lois Schnackenberg graduated from Adelphi University with a major in fine arts and a minor in art history. She is an active exhibiting member of the Woodstock Artists Association and Museum.
