U10 Fire Baseball Team Falls In Semi-Finals
This past weekend the U10 FIRE team completed an outstanding Fall season. The FIRE finished in second place in league play with a 5-3 record with tough competitive games each week. The second place finished earned them a place in the semi-finals of the playoffs.
The FIRE squared off against the New York City MYBA Skyscrpaers on Halloween morning at Salisbury Park. The game was well played by both teams. The FIRE continually put runners in scoring position but the Skyscraper pitchers proved to be dominant on this day as they struck out 12 and although the FIRE seemed right there each inning they just could not get the big hit to get a prolonged rally going, The FIRE played terrific fundamental baseball and were ready for the challenge, but a few physical errors and bounces that did not go their way gave the Skycrapers the window they needed to put together a few 2 out rallies. Although FIRE fell 10-4 the game was closer then the final score indicated and FIRE put up a great fight.
The dedicated boys on the FIRE fall team consisted of Cole Flynn, Thomas Gillespie, John Griffith, Patrick Iorio, Luke Keating, Jack Kenny, Christopher Kiley, Richard Marooney, Kenny McCadden, Patrick Murtagh, Andryw Nagel, Kyle Ober, Dan Salsberg, John Schaltter, and Quinn Walsh, The team was coached by Scott Kiley, Doug Flynn, Pat Iorio, Rich Ober and Jim Gillespie. Congratulations to the entire FIRE team on a nice fall season.
