GC Girls Soccer Ends Season With Heartbreaking Playoff Loss

The No. 14 Hewlett Bulldogs girls soccer team upset the No. 3 Garden City Trojans on Friday afternoon, October 30th at GCHS. Garden City opened the scoring 9:00 into the first half on a goal by Barbara Sullivan. Hewlett’s Jessica Seigal tied the score with 6:20 left in the first half, taking the ball down the left side and shooting 10 yards from the end line. The Bulldogs winning goal was scored with 5:00 left as Danielle Kandel, scored her first goal of the season on a shot taken from midfield. The Bulldogs went on to win 2-1. Garden City controlled the ball for most of the game forcing Hewlett goalkeeper Samara Yegewel to make 20 saves. GC goalkeeper Christina Mangels made five saves. This season’s GC team was coached by Mike Heedles, with assistant coach Scott McAuley. The roster included: Krysta Cento, Jenna Zarou, Emily Menges, Kathleen Reilly, Christina Cesarini, Victoria Aldrich, Shannon Mangini, Delsey Attardi, Elizabeth Stutzmann, Carly Cento, Amanda Murolo, Elizabeth Mahoney, Rachel Dooley, Jessica Stein, Ali Muhlstock, Paige Logan, Shannon Defliese, Taylor Hennig, Barbara Sullivan, Michele Rotondo, Sara Panariello, Diana Leondis, Alexandra Schlapp, Daniella Sampram, Katherine Odell, Christina Mangels, and Tracy Rendano.
