GC Rams Girl’s Lacrosse 2010 Season
      You may have seen it while driving by the Middle School field and wondered if the game had any rules. To the novice spectator, lacrosse can resemble organize confusion. However, there is rhyme and reason to it, which is obvious in the great success of our High School Girl’s Programs. The Rams Girl’s Lacrosse program is the starting point to that success.

      On a crisp cold November Sunday the U16 FIRE traveled to Huntington to square off against the Centerport Cyclones for the Fall Championship. The FIRE came into the finals sporting a 10-2 record.

U10 Fire Baseball Team Falls In Semi-Finals
      This past weekend the U10 FIRE team completed an outstanding Fall season. The FIRE finished in second place in league play with a 5-3 record with tough competitive games each week. The second place finished earned them a place in the semi-finals of the playoffs.

      The Holy Spirit/St. Anne’s Cross Country Team scored big at the Brooklyn Queens cross country championships held this past Sunday, November 1. The team competed in memory of Jim Flynn who recently passed away. Jim was one of Long Island’s great runners and a former St. Anne’s student.

      In a truly thrilling game, the top seeded Garden City Trojans boys varsity soccer team played host to the No.16 Division Blue Dragons last Saturday afternoon for a first round playoff game. It was a blustery day with a wind so strong that there was no telling where the ball might end up.

Trojans JV Football Completes Undefeated Season
      With a 41-8 victory over the Division Blue Dragons last Saturday morning GC high’s JV football team finished their season undefeated, with an 8-0 record. The Trojans outscored their 2009 opponents 249-38 and over the past four years have gone 31-1.

      The Varsity Swim and Dive team competed in the Division A Championships on Monday, October 26th. the girls had some pretty impressive swims, but once again the depth of the team was what won the meet.

GC Girls Soccer Ends Season With Heartbreaking Playoff Loss
      The No. 14 Hewlett Bulldogs girls soccer team upset the No. 3 Garden City Trojans on Friday afternoon, October 30th at GCHS. Garden City opened the scoring 9:00 into the first half on a goal by Barbara Sullivan. Hewlett’s Jessica Seigal tied the score with 6:20 left in the first half, taking the ball down the left side and shooting 10 yards from the end line.

REGISTRATION FOR PRESCHOOL ARTS AND CRAFTS HAS BEGUN
      The Garden City Recreation Department will run a Preschool Arts & Crafts program in Cluett Hall for children who are 3 1/2 to 5 years of age. This program is open to Garden City residents only. Each week your child will make a project to take home following the seasons, holidays, or other interesting topics. Our classes run for six weeks and are 45 minutes long.

TMA Garden City Family Football Classic
      The Men’s Association of Garden City and the Andy Foundation are presently accepting team applications and sponsorships for the 2009 Football Classic. The tournament will be held on Saturday, November 28th from 11 am - 4 pm at St. Paul’s field. Entry fee is $30 per adult and $15 per child and includes lunch and trophies.

      Congratulations to the Garden City Public Schools’ coaching staff who were recently honored with two sportsmanship awards. Nassau County athletic officials from all sports annually choose ten teams of the 57 competing Nassau County school districts to receive sportsmanship awards.
