Students Send Holiday Stockings To Troops
On Thursday October 29, 2009, under the guidance of coach Tom Flatley, the Garden City High School varsity football team and cheerleaders joined together and raised over $400 (so far) to cover shipping expenses to send holiday stockings to our troops overseas. In a coordinated effort with the primary and elementary schools, students in Garden City Public Schools are collecting and stuffing holiday stockings to be sent to U.S. troops. Because of the high school teams’ hard work, time and efforts, the bake sale proceeds will cover the cost of shipping 400 stockings to troops from the area that are deployed on active duty. Last year we sent over 1,000 stockings and we are well on our way to surpassing that number this year! Great work, everyone!
