AAUW’s Evening With Adelphi
An evening with Adelphi was enjoyed by members of the Garden City Branch of AAUW (American Association of University Women) at their monthly meeting November 2nd. Lori Duggan-Gold , Adelphi’s Vice President for Communications, and Carolina M. Cambronero , 2009 graduate were the honored guest speakers.
AAUW is deeply committed to its long standing liaison with Adelphi. It is with deep pride that Lori-Duggan Gold has assumed chairmembership in that regard for AAUW. Ms. Gold, a graduate of NYU in 1989 has provided strategic communication’s planning advice to not-for-profit, educational companies, corporations, and government agencies. Joining Adelphi in 2003 she has found advancement during a most outstanding time in the life of the University. Adelphi’s desire to more broadly encompass the community’s use of its facilities and interest in its activities are most evident.
Carolina M. Cambronero not only graduated Magna Cum Laude, but was honored by AAUW as a recipient of its Honor Merit Award! To meet Ms. Cambronero, and to have had the opportunity to view much of her artistic works was an inspiring experience. She is not only an artist of the drawing board, but presents herself in many other facets of artistic expressions including poetry, writing, and music. Even her teaching of Spanish for the ‘Metropolitan Museum of Art’ employees becomes shaped with her artistic instincts.
A salute to one person AAUW holds in remembrance for her outstanding contributions in the field of ‘Human Rights’ topped off the evening. AAUW celebrated with historical accounts and a luscious cake for Eleanor Roosevelt’s 125th birthday.
