Dozens of families filled the Music Academy of Garden City last Saturday as it celebrated the Grand Opening of its new facility located at 32 Nassau Boulevard South. Town of Hempstead Councilman Edward Ambrosino, a friend of the Music Academy, cut the ribbon to kick off the event. Later in the day, Legislator Vincent Muscarella also stopped by and joined the festivities. Prime Caterers provided a delicious spread of hors d’oeuvres while the Music Academy staff entertained the crowd with live jazz throughout the day.

“We were thrilled by the number of our clients and their families who came out to show their support, even on a rainy day,” said co-owner of the Music Academy John Coco.

“We could not have asked for a better grand opening celebration,” added co-owner Peter Coco.

Garden City resident, Danielle Genova, a client and good friend of the Music Academy, called the reception “a warm and wonderful event.” She added, “It exemplified the class and commitment the Coco Brothers and their staff have brought to music education. Their brand new, state-of-the-art (and eco-friendly) facility is certainly an asset to our community.”

The Music Academy just completed renovating its new, larger facility. It now has nine soundproof lesson rooms, including a large ensemble room, new Yamaha pianos, and everything else a budding musician needs to further his or her studies. The Music Academy was also designed to be environmentally friendly, and has automatic light switches, low flow toilets, automatic hand dryers, and energy efficient computers and printers.

The Music Academy was founded in 2006 by brothers John and Peter Coco. Both owners of the Music Academy hold a Master’s degree in music, and perform and record professionally. All members of the Music Academy staff also hold advanced music degrees and have extensive experience education and performance.
