Kiwanis Continues Membership Drive With Dinner Meeting

Continuing its membership drive, the Kiwanis Club of Garden City will be hold its next dinner meeting on Thursday, November 5th at 6:30 pm at the Seventh Street Cafe. Prospective new members that are interested in giving back to the community are welcome and encouraged to attend to learn more about Kiwanis.

Chartered in 1951 the Kiwanis Club of Garden City sponsors Service Leadership Clubs such as the Key Club at the Garden City High School and Sacred Heart Academy, the Builders Club at the Garden City Middle School and the Circle K Club at Adelphi University. Kiwanis works throughout the year to support the children of our community. Service projects include sending children to Kamp Kiwanis each summer, supporting local Boy and Girl Scout Troops, cooking hamburgers for the Games for the Physically Challenged each May and a College Scholarship Program that is open to all graduating seniors from Garden City.

Every week volunteers from the Kiwanis Club work with Island Harvest headquartered in Mineola and Bagelman on Franklin Avenue to bring bagels to a local mental health clinic. Island Harvest is the largest hunger relief organization on Long Island.

The Club is now preparing for their Annual Adopt-A-Family Program in December.

Interested people are encouraged to contact the Kiwanis Club at 516-319-2459 or KiwanisGC@aol.com to RSVP for next weeks meeting.
