Dr. Susan Kelly, a Garden City resident, was presented with the Fellow Award at the 59th Annual New York State English Council Conference in Albany on October 23. The Fellow Award, given for outstanding work in English education and for service to the New York State English Council, is presented to only one person in the state each year. Dr. Kelly has been on the Executive Board of the NYS English Council for 12 years. She is shown in the picture with her friend, Rosalie Rafter another Garden City resident, who was Conference Chair when Dr. Kelly was President of the NYS English Council in 2004. Dr. Kelly is presently Director of Curriculum and Instruction in the Island Trees School District and serves as Southern Sector Leader for the Nassau Association of District Curriculum Officials.
