Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray and Ex-Chief John P. Casey On Thursday, October 22nd, the Town of Hempstead awarded Garden City Fire Department Ex-Chief John P. Casey with the 2009 Town Firematic Award. Ex-Chief John Casey was honored for his more than 30 years of volunteer fire service to the Village of Garden City. Garden City Fire Chief William Graham noted “The foundation of our Village is volunteer service, and Ex-Chief John Casey is a great example of unselfish dedication to our residents. He is well deserving of this award.” Ex-Chief John P. Casey was accompanied by his family as well as his fellow volunteer firefighters at the event.
