“Faces & Places” Exhibit By Suzie Alvey

Artist Suzie Alvey with her art Suzie Alvey will have an art show featuring oil & pastel portraits, as well as landscape watercolors with her “Faces & Places” exhibit at the Garden City Public Library. The show runs for the month of November, and is open during regular library hours in the Gallery on the lower level. The public is invited to attend her “Meet-the-Artist” Reception. It will be held on Sunday, November 8th from 2pm to 4pm, with free refreshments.

Through Suzie’s love of architecture, she has painted hundreds of treasured House Portraits from San Francisco to Switzerland. With an eye for detail, Suzie’s paintings & drawings are in many collections, including those of famous author, Nelson DeMille; Garth Snow, the manager of the Islanders team; and former Nassau County Executive, Tom Gulotta, Garden City Village Hall & the Chamber of Commerce.

Ms. Alvey also paints Portraits of loved ones. She prefers to work from life, but can arrange for photo sessions where she will take photos to achieve the best angles for each client.

An artist for over 30 years, Suzie Alvey studied with Dan Slapo, PSA (Master Pastellist- Pastel Society of America); John Rogers, AWS (American Watercolor Society); and Marion Brown, AWS. She became a juried member of the Art League of Nassau County in 1987.

Recently Suzie received the “Women of Distinction Award” from Assemblyman, Tom McKevitt. She has supported many charities over the years. Suzie is married to Robert Alvey, founder of the Garden City Bird Sanctuary. They have 3 daughters who also enjoy painting & drawing- Alexis, Erin & KC.
