Deirdre McGrath On Friday, October 16th, the Varsity Girls Swim and Dive team traveled to rival Long Beach for a much-anticipated matchup. Long Beach was the only other undefeated team in Conference 1. From victory in the first event, to victory in the last event, the girls did not let up and came away with a convincing 120-65 win. The large margin of victory shows the talent, versatility and depth of this year’s team. Then, on Tuesday, Oct. 20th, th girls traveled to Great Neck South for their last dual meet of the season. Two more NY State Qualifying times were made during this meet. Kelly McGrath made her first qualifying time in the 500 freestyle and Megan Zarriello made her third, this time in the 200 freestyle. The girls ended their dual meet season on a high note by beating Great Neck South 109 to 74. They also won these two meets in style by wearing pink and white caps to honor Breast Cancer Awareness month. The Varsity Girls Swim team has not lost a dual meet since the 2001 season.
