Point Par Tournament At Cherry Valley Club
      The golf course at Cherry Valley is always a tough opponent. That proved to be the case on October 6th as the field of lady golfers at Cherry Valley held their Point Par tournament. In this competitive, handicapped event one point is awarded to each player for a net bogey, two points for a net par, three points for a net birdie and four points for a net eagle.

GC Rovers Blow The Dix Hills Hurricanes Away
      Ok, so we didn’t exactly blow them away, however the Rovers did erode their unblemished record. For 2 years Dix Hills has been the elite in U10 soccer and came in to GC to add to their 4-0 record this year. The Rovers had other thoughts on their minds. With the motto it only takes one time(thanks Little Giants movie) the Rovers went out and took it to their foe.

JV Football Continues Six Win Streak
      Garden City’s JV football team made it six wins in a row after they defeated the Long Beach Mariners 27-8 on Monday afternoon October 19th. The Trojans were able to capitalize on early miscues by the Mariners and went ahead 21-0 in the first quarter.

Varsity Girls Swimming Undefeated For The 8th Straight Year
      On Friday, October 16th, the Varsity Girls Swim and Dive team traveled to rival Long Beach for a much-anticipated matchup. Long Beach was the only other undefeated team in Conference 1. From victory in the first event, to victory in the last event, the girls did not let up and came away with a convincing 120-65 win.

Coach Diane Chapman Gets 300th Field Hockey Win
      Coach Diane Chapman, whose Garden City High School field hockey team may be Long Island’s most successful scholastic program, reached an important personal milestone last week when she recorded her 300th win. That number is impressive enough, but consider that over 19 years her squads have lost just 24 and tied 21 for a winning percentage of .900.

      The Men’s Association of Garden City and the Andy Foundation are presently accepting team applications and sponsorships for the 2009 Football Classic. The tournament will be held on Saturday, November 28th from 11 am - 4 pm at St. Paul’s field. Entry fee is $30 per adult and $15 per child and includes lunch and trophies.
