Fall is here in more than just the falling temperatures. The Annual Christmas Fairs, the Golden Goose Gala and the fall sports on all levels are being reported. Election Day is fast approaching. The big change on Election Day is the change in date for the election Day Fair at the Garden City Community Church. This year it will be held on Saturday, November 7th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. that will give you more time to vote. For those who wish to drop off their donations for the Fair, the date is Sunday, November 1st following the 10:30 a.m. Worship Service. Mark your calendars right now so you don’t miss this event.

Do look at all the groups that line 7th Street and get to know all that they have to offer. This could put spice into your life that you didn’t realize was missing.
The Garden City Country Club held its monthly Ladies Lunch Bridge this past week on October 15th and there were 27 tables in play following the buffet lunch. The first couple to deal bid and make a Small Slam that day was Jo Carriglia and Mady Tjice. The happy winner of the monthly Door Prize was Anne Busch . The ladies had a special prize due to the coming of Halloween, a small pirate’s chest filled with small pearls in assorted colors that were edible. It was for an early Trick or Treat and the winner to be the one who scored lowest for the afternoon. The Bridge Chairlady Muriel Orban announced that the next Lunch Bridge would be held on Thursday, November 19th and to please be sure to make your reservations.

Happy birthday wishes go to Joan Typermas and Maggie Batista who will be celebrating their special day as October winds down. May you both have a wonderful day and a great year filled with health and happiness with many more to come.Unfortunately with the good news we also get the sad news. Recently Vincent Arcese, a long time resident of Garden City, passed away at the age of 102. Vincent was a kind and generous gentleman who doted on his family - wife Margaret, daughter Mary, and son Richard, along with his daughter-in-law and his grandchild. Our prayers and thoughts go out to the family in their time of sorrow.
Alida Callaghan passed away this past week also. Although Alida did not live in Garden City, she had many friends here and was active for 51 years in the Community Club of Garden City and Hempstead. She leaves a nephew who resides in Maine. Alida was active in the Community Club until this year and she will be missed by all her friends here in town.
Our thoughts for the week is: To gain success, starve your problem and feed your opportunities.
See you next week!
