Parker Kitterman
Mr. Kitterman and Mr. Nelson are performing both solo and in duet. Mr. Kitterman will be performing Leo Sowerby’s joyous Come Autumn Time in celebration of the fall season, as well as a transcription of movements of Modest Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition (including The Catacombs and Baba-Yaga’s Hut). Mr. Nelson will be performing J.S. Bach’s famous Toccata and Fugue in D minor as well as a transcription of Camille Saint-Saën’s orchestral tone-poem Danse Macabre. The program will conclude with the recitalists performing together in Gustav Merkel’s dramatic Sonata in D minor, Op.30, for organ duet. The first and last movements are based on atmospheric verses from Psalm 42 (“Why art thou so full of heaviness, O my soul...”). The central placement of the organ console for Cathedral organ recitals allows the audience to fully appreciate the intricacies of four hands and four feet sharing the keyboards. Suggested donation is $10 for adults, $5 for seniors and students and children under 13 are free. Please call the Cathedral Office at 516-746-2955 for more information.
