Community Club Presents A Lecture
Marc Courtade, lecturer, director, performer.
The Community Club of Garden City and Hempstead is pleased to present a lecture by Mr. Marc Courtade entitled,
The Ethnic Musicals: Assimilation and integration
on Wednesday afternoon, November 4th at 1:30 p.m. at the Garden City Casino.
Mr. Courtade will describe how the melting pot of America was reflected in the Broadway musicals of the 1960’s and 1970’s by playing musical examples from such shows as Fiddler On The Roof, The Wiz, a nd Pacific Overtures and discussing them. Mr. Coutade will examine how these musicals and others reflect the eras and cultures being represented.
Marc Courtade is business manager for Tilles Center for the Performing Arts at Long Island University and producer and artistic director of performance plus! A Pre-performance Lecture series. He is a frequent lecturer for the Hutton House Lectures, specializing in music and opera courses, and adjunct professor in the arts management curriculum. An avid performer, Marc has appeared in numerous productions throughout Long Island.
This program, which is free and open to the public, is made possible through the support of the New York Council for the Humanities, a state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
