The Wakefield Cathedral Choir
On Wednesday, October 28th at 7:30 p.m. the Cathedral of the Incarnation in Garden City will be hosting the Men and Girls’ Choir of Wakefield Cathedral, England. The Wakefield Cathedral Choir is on its third tour of the United States, performing at venues such as St. Thomas Church, Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. Mr. Moore is a graduate of Huddersfield University, where he now teaches, and he is regularly on demand as an organ recitalist. The organ will played by Jonathan Bielby, Director of Music at Wakefield Cathedral since 1970. Mr. Bielby’s dedication to church music has been recognized in recent years by an Honorary Fellowship of the Royal Guild of Church Musicians, and a Fellowship of the Royal School of Church Music. The choirs will present a varied concert of sacred and secular music, including works by Stanford, Mendelssohn, Leighton, John Scott, Cole Porter and George Gershwin. Tickets are available at the door for $15 general admission, $5 for high school and college students and children under 13 are admitted free.
