Due to a restructuring of the Nassau County Senior Citizen’s Affairs’ Flu Shot Program, and the nonparticipation of Winthrop Hospital and Nassau County Medical Center, our Recreation Department will not be offering flu shots at the Senior Center this year.

However, the Recreation Department has obtained a list of sites at which seniors can receive flu shots. This list can be obtained at the Recreation Office at 108 Rockaway Avenue, St. Paul’s Senior Center, or the Senior Center on Golf Club Lane.

Also, the Recreation Department will provide bus transportation to the Senior Health Fair at Hofstra University on October 29th, where attendees can receive a flu shot. Please read the article below for further details on how to register for a flu shot at the Health Fair.

SENIOR FLU SHOTS AVAILABLE AT THE HOFSTRA HEALTH FAIR

Senator Kemp Hannon is pleased to announce his hosting of the 8th Annual Senior Health Fair at Hofstra’s David S. Mack Sports Complex on the University’s Campus. The fair will be held on Thursday, October 29th. Any senior wishing to receive a flu shot should attend this event. There is no out of pocket expense but each senior should bring his/her Medicare or insurance card with them

To make a reservation to get the flu shot at the Health Fair, you must do the following -

1. Reservations are necessary and can be made by calling the Community Office on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9am - 5pm. The number to call is 739-1700.

2. When calling to make a reservation, the person must provide a name, address, phone #, date of birth, and Medicare number or insurance name. This information must be provided even if you are calling for someone other than yourself.

The Recreation Department will provide bus service to Hofstra for anyone who would like to attend the Health Fair on Thursday Oct. 29.

The bus will pick up attendees at St. Paul’s Senior Center at 108 Rockaway Avenue at 10 am. It will travel to Hofstra where we will attend the Health Fair and leave Hofstra around 11:30 am. Anyone who would like to travel on the Recreation Department’s bus must call the Department at 465-4075 by Monday, October 26th. If you want to receive a flu shot while you attend with the Recreation Department, have the above information ready to give the Recreation Department when you call. We will then call the information in as a group.

st. paul’s senior center hours

St. Paul’s Senior Center is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Seniors aged 60 and up who are residents of the Village of Garden City are invited to come and enjoy our facility. We are offering the following programs this week:
