In honor of the first National Day of Service and Remembrance for September 11th, the Garden City Primary and Elementary Schools partnered with local human service organization, Family and Children’s Association. Homestead, Hemlock, Locust, Steward, and Stratford Schools held a collection and donation drive to help less fortunate families. Through the unending generosity of our community, children in shelters, vulnerable senior citizens and financially-strained families were provided with backpacks filled with school supplies, non-perishable food items, baby care products, pajamas, and gift cards to Walmart, Target, and CVS. We are so very proud of the unity, service, and compassion that continues to be shown since the aftermath of 9/11, and we look forward to future endeavors such as this to raise our children’s awareness of those in need.
