Garden City Public Schools - Employee Of The Month

Mrs. Pam Smith

Mrs. Pam Smith Each month our district will honor a valued employee whose exemplary efforts improves the quality of our children’s educational experience in Garden City Public Schools.

This month’s Employee of the Month is Mrs. Pam Smith, Senior Typist Clerk at Hemlock Primary School. Mrs. Smith has worked in the district for over 20 years and was selected for this distinction by the staff of Hemlock. In the words of Principal Audrey Bellovin, “Mrs. Smith seems to be the person that everyone turns to for help - it seems she has the ability to solve everything! Teachers rely on her for help with everything from elaborate flyers for class productions to worksheets for classroom use. Schedules and memos are thoroughly prepared for distribution. Her organization skills are exemplary. As one of our teachers put it, and many others echoed, ‘Pam is always willing to help. . . even if it is not necessarily part of her job!’ We count on Pam for so much because of her dedication to getting things done - quickly, efficiently and correctly. And when the copy machine or the laminating machine needs fixing, Pam is almost always able to do it!

“Mrs. Smith has many outside interests - including a variety of music (Jimmy Buffett and Bruce Springsteen are two favorites), the beach and traveling,” Principal Bellovin continued. “Mrs. Smith and her husband, Richie Smith, often go to Charleston and Key West on vacations. She enjoys cooking and we often exchange recipes to try. Mrs. Smith is a huge ‘chocoholic.’ Pam is a wonderful mother to Meghan, and a devoted daughter and sister.

“What really stands out about Pam is the way she is so thorough with all her projects; nothing is too big or too small. Her energy is more than the energizer bunny and her personality is always so cheerful! She is such a gal Friday. And her loyalty to all of us is monumental.”

Congratulations and deepest thanks to Mrs. Pam Smith, Garden City Public Schools Employee of the Month!
