Community Club President Emily Sair and 90th Birthday Party Chairman Joan Afflerback and her committee met this week to finalize plans for the big celebration of the 90th anniversary of the founding of the Community Club of Garden City and Hempstead, Inc. The festivies will take place at the Garden City Casino as part of the Club’s October General Program on Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 7th at 1:30 p.m. Come and hear all about this interesting and educational club as members tell tales of the past programs, trips, social events and guest speakers and then learn what’s to come in the future. Enjoy memorabilia and music from the past nine decades and, if you are in possession of vintage clothes, please wear them even it it’s only a pretty hat and white gloves. Of course there will be birthday cake at the tea hour to celebrate in style. The event is open to the community and we urge members to bring a guest. If you’ve ever wondered what the Community Club is all about, now is the time to learn by joining us on October 7th as we celebrate 90 years of community service, fellowship and fun.
