Recreation Department CHILDREN’S YOGA

The Recreation Department is offering Yoga for Children in Cluett Hall. ThIs class, taught by Connie McKnight, is open to any resident ages 6-12. The schedule is as follows:

Fridays at 6:30 pm 24 weeks for $192

GARDEN CITY PLATFORM COURT MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION FOR RESIDENTS 2009 SEASON

An application for resident membership to the Recreation Department’s Platform Courts covers the season beginning October 1, 2009 through April, 2010 This membership is open to any individual who is a resident of the Inc. Village of Garden City. It covers unlimited play under the rules and regulations set forth by the Garden City Recreation Department. It does not cover any programs or special events that the Recreation Department itself chooses to run. Said events would require an additional fee if applicable.

The fee for this unlimited membership will be $ 225. To register for membership, please visit the Recreation Administrative Offices at 108 Rockaway Ave. Checks should be made payable to the “Village of Garden City”.

ADULT YOGA CLASSES AT CLUETT HALL

Our fall session of Yoga with Connie McKnight will begin the week of September 14 according to the following schedule:

Mondays 7:30 - 8:30 p.m.

13 classes for $65

Wednesdays 10:30 - 11:30 a.m.

12 classes for $60

Thursdays 11:30 a.m.- 12:30 p.m.

13 classes for $65

This program is open to adults who are residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City. Each class will meet in Cluett Hall . To register for this program, please visit the Recreation Administrative Offices at 108 Rockaway Avenue. For further information, call the Recreation Office at 465-4075.

ADULT TENNIS

LESSON INTEREST FORM NOW AVAILABLE

Fall Adult Tennis Lesson Registration has now started. Classes will begin in late September and are played at the Community Park Tennis Facility.

Our Recreation Department offers lessons for adults in all ability levels. In order to create sessions geared to the needs of our residents, we are asking any adult who is a resident in the Inc. Village of Garden City and is interested in our tennis lessons to fill out an interest form at the Administrative Offices at 108 Rockaway Ave. Please follow the directions listed.

1. Choose the days and times you are available to play

2. Self rate your tennis ability

3. Either drop off or mail your application to the Recreation Office at 108 Rockaway Ave. by 9/15.

Classes will then be made by grouping people of similar abilities according to the dates they are available. Our ten week, one hour class will cost $199 and will start in late September.

ADULT TENNIS ULTIMATE WORKOUT IS REGISTERING

The Recreation Department’s Tennis Ultimate Workout for Adults is a drill program for the serious and experienced tennis player to hone their skills. This eight week program is held from 10-11:30 a.m. on Saturdays at the Community Park Tennis Facility beginning October 4th. The cost of this workout program is $200. To register for this program, please visit the Recreation Office at 108 Rockaway Avenue.

GC RECREATION department DANCE Conservatory Registration begins

There are limited openings in the Recreation Department’s Dance Conservatory Program, which began Monday, September 21. Please visit the Recreation Office at 108 Rockaway to register for one of our classes.

IT’S TIME TO REGISTER FOR CHILDREN’S TENNIS!

Our youth tennis lessons began on Thursday, September 24. We still have limited openings available in some of our classes. To register, please visit the Recreation Office at 108 Rockaway Avenue.

TRYOUTS FOR

THE RECREATION DEParTment’S JUNIOR TENNIS TEAM ANNOUNCED

The Recreation Department’s Junior Tennis team will be holding tryouts for residents ages 9-18 at the Community Park Tennis Facility on October 3rd and 4th . This team is for the competitive tennis player who can serve, sustain a rally, and keep score.

Tryouts will be held according to the following schedule -

Saturday, October 3rd ages 9-12 2:30 - 4 p.m.

Sunday, October 4th ages 13 and up 2:30 - 4 p.m.

The program would begin in mid October and run through April. Practices will be held on Saturday and Sunday afternoons according to a set schedule. Home and away matches will be held. The cost of this program will be $275, which will be collected once the child makes the team. If you have any questions, please call Sue Tarzian at 319-5009.

GARDEN CITY RECREATION ADULT ROLLER HOCKEY REGISTRATION BEGINS

Our season began on Sunday September 13th, 2009 and will run through mid-November. All games are strictly pick up and just for fun. The cost of this program is $50.00 per person. Please make all checks payable to the Inc. Village of Garden City.

Who can play : ages 30 & over

When : Sunday Evenings at 7:00 p.m.
