The FIRE opened the fall with a dominating 10-1 win against the LI All Stars and then played quality ball in a 10-4 win over the CP Starts. Fresh off two wins in week one, the FIRE walked on to the field this past Saturday looking to repeat last week’s performance. Although the Franklin Square Bombers jumped out to an early lead in game #1 the FIRE quickly fought back and dominated the late innings of game #1 one winning 10-6 behind solid hitting and some long bombs. Game #2 featured some small ball, successful bunts, exciting steals and a key squeeze play that lifted the FIRE to an 8-5 win and a share of first place at 4-0 to start the season.

The solid play has been a result of a total team effort. The pitching staff of John Schlatter, John Griffith, Patrick Iorio, Kenny McCadden. Luke Keating, and Andryw Nagel have held the opponents bats in check. The hitting attack has featured CJ Kiley, Dan Salsberg, Tom Gillespie, and Richard Marooney leading the way to 38 runs over 4 games and outstanding defense has come from Patrick Murtagh, Cole Flynn, Quinn Walsh, Kyle Ober and Jack Kenny all of whom have stopped opponent rallies with excellent plays. 8 different players have already been honored with game balls and several other players have earned helmet stars for excellent individual play.
