The Nature & Wildlife Photographers of Long Island (NWPLI) is an award-winning group with all skill levels from amateur to professional. They are committed to documenting the beauty of our diverse natural environment via the medium of photography. They strive to foster interest in the conservation and protection of our natural world and to inspire and educate our membership. While the majority of their images are taken here on Long Island, some members have been fortunate to travel abroad to such exciting locations as Antarctica, Kenya, the Galapagos Islands, and Alaska.

The mission of the Garden City Bird Sanctuary is to manage protected greenspace for

environmental stewardship and community services programs. The sanctuary was converted from a weed and trash covered sump during 1996 by thousands of volunteers. The nine-acres has received the Outstanding Ecological Program Award and the Merit Award for the Outstanding Volunteer Community.
