Carol Countryman, Ann Heinzlemann, Emilie Sair, Member at Large, Member of National AAUW The telltale signs of AAUW’s successful 2009 Membership Tea are revealed in this picture display. Appearing in the first photo are three AAUW Educational Awards recipients, who were featured speakers at the tea. Shirley J. Carrie, Kesha Thomas McBeth, and Gowri Rao all presently attend universities in New York City.

The three categories of rewards received included an American Fellowship which supports women doctoral candidates or scholars seeking funds for post doctoral research; a Career Development Grant which supports women who hold a bachelor’s degree and are preparing to advance their careers, change careers, or re-enter the workforce; and a Selected Professions Fellowships for women to pursue a full-time course of study in a master’s degree program in which womens’ participation traditionally has been low.
