Thunder, Set, Hut 1 After 2 days of heavy rain the skies cleared for a glorious day of football at Stewart Field this past Sunday. The 8 year old men of Thunder took the field to battle against a very tough East Rockaway team who worked their way north to take on this stout team of young men from Garden City. The Moscatiello 8 year old team coached by Steve Baymack, Rich Petrone, George Merritts, Dave Foxen and Dan Moscatiello were ready to protect their turf.

Wearing home Maroon jerseys the GC Thunder took an early lead behind the running of Tyler "Tiger" Sandoval, Brady Sullivan, Steve "Stevie B" Baymack, Paul Varano and Richie "Hammer" Petrone. It was off to the races due to the awesome blocking of Steven Moscatiello, Albert Severini, Kevin "LB" LeBlanc, Connor Gunn, Jacob Samenuk, Holden Overbeck, Kyle Merritts, Aidan Pfaff and John Morris. These "hogs" dominated the point of attack making it a long day for the East Rockaway Defense!

When the opponent was able to get their offense on the field, there was no relief in sight. The GC defensive line was lights out behind stellar line play of Steven Haass, Campbell Munn, Mathew Conelli, Jack Meyers, Dan Carlino and Joey "Lighting" Atherall. On the very few plays that the Raiders were able to get past the line of scrimmage the speedy and hard hitting d-backs and linebackers filled all the gaps. Players like Jackson "JB" Bautch, Joe "Rocket" Foxen, Christian Holloway, Billy Willis and Timmy Curran were relentless.

Back out for another series This week the Thunder 8's will travel to Island Trees to take on a tough opponent for a second week in a row. Come on and cheer the boys on, GO THUNDER!!!!
