GCAA, an entity that has been running sports in Garden City for over 50 years, is now accepting applications for the 2009-2010 basketball season. The Garden City Trojans boys varsity soccer team played the Calhoun Colts last Saturday morning at GCHS. It was a physical game that saw both Calhoun goalkeepers get injured, but not seriously. Garden City High's JV football team opened up its season last Saturday morning against the New Hyde Park Gladiators. Leading the Trojans at quarterback for the 2009 season is Sophomore Mike Comiskey. More ... Expectations have been running high for the 2009 Trojans and they did nothing to diminish them with a dominating 46-0 opening day victory over New Hyde Park at Warren King Field. The Trojans scored 23 first quarter points, led 37-0 at the half and used all of their 47-man squad by the end of the day. More ... The Garden City Trojans girls varsity soccer team played host to the Massapequa Chiefs on Monday afternoon, September 14th. Massapequa opened the scoring as Erica Modena, on an assist from Rosie DiMartino, found the back of the net with a little more than three minutes left in the first half. DiMartino scored both of Massapequa's goals in the second half as the Chiefs went on to win 3-0. More ... Congratulations to the Garden City Hot Shots for a successful start to their season.
