Nursery School Welcomes New Parents
Michael and Ragin Milo meet Group 1 assistant teacher Barbara Mangi.
On Thursday, September 10th, Garden City Nursery School kicked off the 2009-2010 school year with its annual New Parent Orientation Meeting. At this meeting, parents new to the school had the opportunity to meet and socialize with one another, as well as with teachers and staff members.
Ann Amengual, director of GCNS, discussed what to anticipate during the first days of school and how parents could help their children adjust easily and happily. The new parents were introduced to the experienced teaching staff with which they will be sharing their children. GCNS President, Tina Palmer, welcomed parents and introduced school board members who reviewed procedures and upcoming events at the school.
The orientation was the first of many parent-school interactions this year. At Garden City Nursery School, parents have the unique opportunity to work cooperatively with the teachers in the classroom, attend parenting workshops, volunteer on committees, and enjoy social activities throughout the academic year.
