District Seeks To Inform Public On School Bond
      Garden City School District officials are stepping up their efforts to inform residents about the upcoming school investment bond vote, which will be held on October 27 from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. in the gymnasium of the Garden City High School.

      Nikhil A. Kothari, a member of the Union College Class of 2010, has been named to the 2008/2009 Dean's List. Kothari, a resident of Garden City, is a 2006 graduate of Garden City Senior High School. In order to be named to the Dean's List, a student must have completed three courses during each of the three terms with no fewer than eight courses in the index.

Blood Drive At St. Joseph's School
      Long Island Blood Services will hold a blood drive at the St. Joseph's School Gymnasium, 121 Fourth Street, Garden City on Sunday, September 27th from 8 AM to 1:30 PM. Over 800 pints of blood are needed every day to meet the needs of patients in over 50 Long Island hospitals.

      The Anniversary Gala celebrating 70 year of Excellence in Catholic Education is approaching. The celebration begins at the 5 PM Mass on Saturday, October 17th and continues over at the school. Nursery School Welcomes New Parents

      On Thursday, September 10th, Garden City Nursery School kicked off the 2009-2010 school year with its annual New Parent Orientation Meeting. At this meeting, parents new to the school had the opportunity to meet and socialize with one another, as well as with teachers and staff members.

GC Student Wins Essay Contest
      In recognition of Financial Literacy Month, Astoria Federal Savings held its fourth annual essay contest for children, ages 5-12, asking them to complete the statement: "If I save a lot today, in the future I could..." Hundreds of essays were received from the participating neighborhood branches throughout Nassau, Suffolk, Queens, Brooklyn, and Westchester.
