The Nature and Wildlife Photographers of Long Island(NWPLI) and the Garden City Bird Sanctuary have teamed up to provide the public with an outstanding NATURE PHOTOGRAPHY SHOW! The show will run at the Garden City Public Library, located on Seventh Street, from Saturday, Oct. 3rd until Oct. 31st during regular library hours. A MEET-the-PHOTOGRAPHER RECEPTION will take place on Saturday, Oct. 3rd from 2pm to 4pm. The public is welcome to view the exhibit, talk with the photographers, and enjoy snacks & drinks specially prepared for this reception.
Nature and Wildlife Photographers of Long Island is a group of photographers of all skill levels from amateur to professional. They are committed to documenting the beauty of our diverse natural environment via the medium of photography. They strive to foster interest in the conservation and protection of our natural world and to inspire and educate their membership.
While the majority of the NWPLI images are taken here on Long Island, some of their members have been fortunate to travel abroad to such exciting locations as Antartica, Kenya, the Galapagos Islands and Alaska.
The NWPLI has been honored to receive awards in several prestigious competitions, among them Winner in the Camera Club category, Best Backyards Contest and Winner in the Camera Club category, International Awards of Nature's Best Photography Magazine. Individual members have received accolades as well in prominent contests such as the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year.

The Garden City Bird Sanctuary is working in conjunction with the NWPLI on the Nature Photography Show. The mission of the Garden City Bird Sanctuary is to manage protected greenspace for environmental stewardship and community service programs. The GCBS is a certified 501c3 not for profit organization. It is a 9-acre community nature preserve at Nassau County Storm Water Storage Basin #232 in Garden City. The main entrance is opposite 181 Tanners Pond Road.
The GCBS site is open to the public on weekends from March through November, and by appointment. There is no charge to visit. Over 250 families are members of the Bird Sanctuary this year, and we welcome new members and volunteers. For more information, please visit our website at www.GCBirdSanctuary.org.
