TEAM IV: Paul Miano on the mound. The Garden City Bombers 11U team completed their 2009 summer season with a 15-0 record in the LSW travel baseball league. The Bombers completed the regular season 13-0 and continued their winning ways in the playoffs defeating a tough Island Trees team in the semi finals. Ryan Wallstedt got the win by pitching a complete game gem in the semis. The championship game was an exciting, pressure filled contest against the LI Devils. The Devils fought back to tie the score at the end of six innings. The Bombers got outstanding pitching by Paul Miano and Kevin Lee. Kevin and Paul also made incredible defensive plays to keep the score tied in extra innings. The Bombers finally cashed in for good when Drew Haggerty came through with a walk off game winning hit in the bottom of the eighth, driving in Richie Mollura from third.

Throughout the spring and summer the Bombers worked hard in practice and continued to improve as a team. The pitching staff was anchored by Ryan Wallstedt and the catching duties were handled by Sean Hogan and Mike Faulisi. Great hitting and defense was also provided throughout the year by Kyle Ascher, Brendan Burke, Michael McGuire, Billy Piano, Chris Crafa, Will Hammersley, Brandon Carlin, and Joey Rocco.
