Congratulations to the U-10 Boys travel soccer team for competing for the first time as a team in their first pre-season tournament. The team competed in five games against some tough opponents at Soccer Park in Plainview, August 28 and 29. More ... The Garden City U-10 Strikers played in the East Meadow-Covanta Soccer Tournament on August 29 and 30. The Strikers played teams from Longwood, Massapequa, East Meadow, Syosset and Manhattan. The U-11 Garden City Centennial Wildcats opened the 2009-2010 season in excellent form by taking 1st Place in the Premier Division at the 31st Annual Covanta Soccer Tournament sponsored by the East Meadow Soccer Club. The Garden City Athletic Association is pleased to announce their annual field hockey clinics for girls in grades 4 - 8. The Garden City Bombers 11U team completed their 2009 summer season with a 15-0 record in the LSW travel baseball league. The Bombers completed the regular season 13-0 and continued their winning ways in the playoffs defeating a tough Island Trees team in the semi finals.Ryan Wallstedt got the win by pitching a complete game gem in the semis. More ... GCAA, an entity that has been running sports in Garden City for over 50 years, is now accepting applications for the 2009-2010 basketball season. The Garden City Centennial Soccer Club will be opening their fall season on Saturday September 12th. Girls play 9:00AM until 1:00PM and boys play from 1:00PM until 5:00PM (with the exception of Kindergarten and 1st grade). The program runs for eight consecutive Saturday's with the exception of October 10th (Columbus Day Weekend). The season ends on November 7th. More ... Our qualifying tournament is being held on Saturday, September 12. from, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Community Park and is open to all residents who would like to play. More ... Due to popular demand, the Recreation Department will again offer an adult pastel class taught by Arleen Ruth Urban. This class is open to adult residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City.
