In 1998 Garden City resident, Debbie G. Fusco-Gerek, shown in her beloved Italy, founded an Italian I.A.C.E. program (Italian American Committee on Education) now in its twelfth year. She is liaison between the Italian government based in Rome and St. Brigid ~ Our Lady of Hope Regional School, in Westbury, where classes are held. Italian language and culture classes will be taught to children ages 4-18 and adults, on Thursdays starting September 24, and ending in May 2010 in the afternoon (4:00-6:00 PM). Adult Beg. /Inter./Adv. classes will be available at same time.

The Office of the Consulate General of Italy provides major funding for this program. Yearly class costs for children are $406 and $385 for each additional child. Cost for adult class is $502.

As Coordinator, Mrs. Fusco-Gerek's goal is to have the best Italian teachers for the students and she is in constant search. If you know someone who may be interested please call her.
